Music Sundays

These concerts provide low stress performance opportunities for all music students, especially in the months preceding the Yellowknife Music Festival and conservatory exams. However, this is not only an opportunity for high performance students; even the youngest beginner and purely recreational performers are encouraged to try out their skills in front of a small, friendly audience. Invite Grandma or a couple of friends to come hear you play.

How they began

Formerly a program of Classics On Stage Yellowknife (COSY) a series of free Sunday afternoon concerts known as Music at the Museum took place for over 10 years at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre. In 2019 we moved to the Anglican Church and then, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, for the 2020-21 season, Music Sundays moved to YouTube, recording either at the church or performers recorded themselves at home.

Fall 2021

As of July 2021, COSY merged with MTA-NWT and Music Sundays continued once a month for students of members at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, from October to May.

In September 2022 we were invited to move our concerts back to the museum and have enjoyed performing in this beautiful space ever since.
